I wouldn't mind a 'smaller' sub, so long as the Cyclops itself remained relatively unchanged. And worse, it suddenly becomes something does not fit in as something they would have brought along in the first place, without making yet other changes to it still can fill a viable role beyond 'aquatic mini-bus with motorbike jammed in the back'. In such a case, going smaller makes it loose a lot of its flexibility, be to small to carry the Exosuit, with no space for large amounts of storage or on board food production, and it suddenly becomes worthless as anything more than a slow moving stepping stone for getting to deep areas. The Cyclops is (from what little I have seen) barely big enough as it is to handle the Exosuit's size in its bay. Considering the Auroa's basic mission (be it mining or construction or whatever it is now), it 'needs' a sub the size and flexibility of the Cyclops. There is plenty of room for adding in lockers, growbeds, etc, for extended operations away from the base. I think the Cyclops is just the right size as it is (aside from the 'wide' part, which seems out of place submarine wise). Which is probably why the Cyclops carries a Seamoth. The Seamoth, as a mini/midget sub, is made for small, tight places. (of which said buses probably won't fit into a normal forest.) It's like four times the size of a Coach Bus. Why would you want to put the Cyclops 'in' the Mushroom Forest? Submarine wise, the Cyclops is short, wide, and OP.
